West Arundel Creative Arts is seeking participants for a theatrical production to be performed for children at a variety of venues, including (but not limited to) the WACA facility itself, local libraries, children’s hospitals, and schools. We are looking for both actors and crew, i.e. people who can help with props, costumes, and logistics.
The show will be approximately 30 minutes long, and may be include related arts activities for the audience, such as creating puppets to be used in the performances, painting and drawing of related ideas, or even story writing afterwards. Some example performances of similar shows have been uploaded to youtube, and can be viewed here:
v=VieHcn-Hlx4 (Pirates of Pan’s Pants)
v=6dSAC_NI2Lw (Romeo and Juliet, Puppet-style)
v=YN5TxQIk3XA (Cow Wars)
We will audition using the script of Romeo and Juliet (the puppet-based version that you can see in the second link, starting at seven minutes and eighteen seconds into the video), and are planning for that to be our first production, although the final choice of show will depend on strengths and interests of everyone involved.
Auditions will be held Saturday, July 8th at 2:00 and Monday, July 10th at 7:00, with initial planning later in July and the first performances in September. If you have questions or would like to be involved, please send an email to email@example.com, indicating your interests (acting, production tasks, etc.), and we will provide additional logistics for getting involved.
