Dance

Ballet and Rhythm!

Ages 2-5

Learn Ballet Basics through traditional techniques combined with games, songs, and fun!

Ballet II

Fridays 12:00-12:50pm

Ages 4-6

Taken Ballet I or Ballet and Rhythm. Ballet II continues with more ballet techniques and two dance numbers to be presented the 10th week of the session. We will combine music and movement with this fun class that will deepen the student’s ballet background.  Students younger than 4 who have previously taken ballet may be admitted by the instructor

 

Hip-Hop

Wednesdays 5:00-5:55pm

6-11 years

Students will Move it! Hip Hop “includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States.”

 

Modern and Lyrical Dance

Wednesdays 6:00-6:55pm

11-17years

This class combines the beauty of ballet with the freedom of expression. This style of dance uses the classics of ballet with a modern twist! Explore your artistry!

 

 

Ballet for Athletes Strength Conditioning

Wednesdays 7:00pm -7:55pm

12 and up

Students will explore ballet as well as cross training exercises to improve flexibility, form, and strength. This class is perfect for athletes and the serious dancer alike.

Jazz Dance for Adults

Wednesdays 8:00pm-8:55pm

Ages 18+

New to dance to intermediate student will learn from this Jazz Dance class. “Jazz dance is an umbrella term that can refer to several related dance styles. All of them are connected via common roots, namely tap, ballet, jazz music, and African-American rhythms and dance. Jazz dance originated from the African American vernacular dance of the late 1800s to the mid-1900s”

Actors Toolbox

Mondays 5:00-6:00pm

Ages 6-11

In the Actors Toolbox class, we will go over things such as vocal exercises, techniques to memorize, how to shake out nerves, and character development. We will play characterization and improv games. The goal is that when they leave the class they leave with something they can use forever in their craft.

Students will learn beginning and advanced techniques for acting and the fun and important role of improvisational acting. The students will think on their feet through Improv exercised and games. At the end of the session students will present an Improv show for guests

Join instructor Phil Vannoorbeeck in a journey through Shakespeare monologues and plays. Students will learn how to decipher Shakespeare’s text and apply it to acting and movement. At the end of the session students will present monologues and/or scenes from Shakespearian works.

Have a child that loves Card Games like Pokémon or Magic the Gathering? How about role-playing games? TCG!

In this class students will create their own game system including card and board game design. The 10th week of classes students will present and play their games with guests.

Photography

Introduction to Digital Photography

Mondays 6:30-7:30pm

Ages 17+

The intent of this course is to make you a better photographer. We will start with establishing a baseline of understanding your camera and the basics of picture taking. With direction from the participants as guidance we will progress through understanding light, lenses, composition, and more. The goal is to have students leave the class with more confidence and creative tools to approach a scene and convey their vision through their photographs. The only requirement is that you have a camera (or phone) and a desire to improve your photographic skills.

Costuming: From Design to production

Mondays 7:30-8:30

Ages 16+

4 Time WATCH Winning (WOW!) Costume Designer Linda Swann teaches students how to design for a show. Students will learn how to look to script for ideas, and techniques for working with actors and directors to create a cohesive show costumes array. Ms. Swann will also work with students to create a costume piece.

Building a Production

Ages 16+

Have you ever wondered what preparations a director goes through before even casting a show?  This class is designed to give you a glimpse into the work that goes into a production before auditions.  Students will be walked through the process of selecting a play, creating a scene plot, developing their vision for the characters and the show developing a working costume and prop plot, dealing with theatrical limitations, and other items a director would have to have in place to help keep the production/crew side organized.
